Cabin odours are rarely just a smell. Most of the time they are coming from bacteria and mould growing in the air conditioning evaporator and cabin filter, which is damp and dark for most of the year — exactly the conditions that suit them.
That is why air fresheners never fix it for long. They mask the odour while the source keeps growing. A proper treatment deals with what is actually producing the smell, and the difference is usually obvious to anyone who regularly carries passengers or children.
What counts as a service over $500?
Most full logbook services, and any service combined with additional repair work, will reach the threshold. Common examples include a logbook service with brake pads, a major interval service, or a service combined with a timing belt or cooling system repair.
